Chinese overseas hydropower project four years increased by 3 times
May 29,organizedby the InternationalRiversreleased a"new Great Wall-ChinaOverseasDamIndustry Guide"(hereinafter referred to as"Guidelines"), as ofAugust 2012,70countriesin the worldthere areat least308dam projects(mainlyhydropower projects)by theChineseenterprisesand financial companiesinvolved in the construction.This means thatin the pastfouryears,the number ofChina's participation inthedam projecttothreetimes the rate ofgrowth.Most ofdam projectsin SoutheastDivision,and graduallyexpand toAfrica, Latin Americaand South Asia(especially Pakistan). Among them,nearly half ofChinaOverseasdamswere built inSoutheast Asia,and isplanning to build,areat different stages ofconstruction and operation.Africa is thesecond majordamconstruction base, a total of85Chineseoverseas dam, accounting forthe number ofglobalChineseoverseas dam28%.Chineseoverseasdam projectsin Latin America,the number ofrapid growthfrom2008onwards,Chinacurrentlyaccounts for8% ofthe numberof overseasdams. 2011, after50 yearsafter the suspension,the government began torunSarawak, Malaysia'sBakunhydropower2,400,000 kilowatts.The projectdeveloperfor theMalaysian Governmentand theChinaWater Conservancy and HydropowerConstruction Group Corporation,funded by theChinaExport-Import Bank.Bakunhydroelectricdam is205 meters,isone ofAsia's largestdam. |
